Operations Assistant/Analyst for MDRC

MDRC is seeking an operations assistant/analyst to join our Family Well-Being and Children’s Development policy area. Studies conducted in this area examine how the developmental trajectories of low-income children can be improved through interventions in family employment and economic security; family relationships and mental health; and child care and early education. The operations assistant/analyst will be part of a multi-disciplinary team developing ideas for evaluation research on current social policy issues–including family employment and economic security, family relationships and mental health, and child care and early education. Assistants and analysts work under the guidance and supervision of leading public policy researchers as well as leading researchers in the fields of developmental psychology, economics, sociology and social work.

Responsibilities:
The operations assistant/analyst will initially work on developing program sites around the country for an evaluation of marriage education programs for low-income couples, and will also support implementation research in this area. This new staff member may also assist in the initial stages of developing our child care and early education research agenda. The new staff member will have a range of responsibilities, including:
• Coordinating and participating in site development visits
• Coordinating and participating in implementation research
• Active involvement in various stages of producing reports, proposals, and papers—coordinating across authors, writing, fact-checking, and documentation
• Assistance in all stages of evaluation design

Additional Qualifications:
• BA/BS in developmental psychology, economics, mathematics, public policy, sociology, statistics, or related field; MA preferred
• Proficiency in written and oral Spanish and English
• Demonstrated interest in social policy issues affecting low-income children
• Basic understanding of quantitative research methods
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Comfortable working in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
• Strong research and technical writing skills, as well as previous experience in a non-profit or as a research assistant and are a plus
