ROOTEd Facilitator Applications now available for Fall 2006! ROOTEd is an anti-oppression, Peer Facilitation group on campus that works with issues around power, privilege, and identity. Applications are due Monday, April 17th, 2006. Email Nancy Cha: nmc2108@columbia with questions. We welcome all Columbia/Barnard undergraduate students who are interested in social justice to apply for ROOTEd today. We welcome people of all racial/ethnic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, socioeconomic classes, and all other walks of life. Join ROOTED today! It’s a lot of fun, and important work!

Latinas Learning to Lead Youth Institute

Latinas Learning to Lead Youth Institute
Completed applications due April 7th, 2006. Details from the CCE:

The Institute combines leadership training with technical and practical experience in a one-week comprehensive program in Washington, D.C. This year’s program will be held from July 16-22, 2006. The Institute focuses on personal and career planning, health and well-being, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills. There will be sessions on cross-cultural communications, conflict resolution, resume writing and interview skills, and developing websites. Participants will have an opportunity to interact with high-level Latina/o leaders during lectures, group exercises, and site visits. Up to 22 Latina undergraduate college students from diverse geographical areas and ethnic subgroups within the Hispanic community will be selected each year.
